Working steadily on anything and everything this week. Funding packets starting to go out, locations being scouted and finalized, meetings on test shots and casting as well. Met with Sterlin Harjo, who has several features and shorts under his belt and has had his work screened at Sundance, about coming on board as a Production Manager during the production as well as a Creative Consultant. Sterlin will be a huge asset of knowledge and he's very excited to be involved. This weekend I'll continue sending out funding packets and getting feed back as well as setting up a video for the Kickstarter site. More on that soon.
In the meantime, here's an excerpt from the script for those interested and I'll be posting more in the following weeks.
INT. LAB - NIGHT
BENNET is sitting with his feet up, watching the computer monitor stream data eating yogurt from a small plastic container.
BEEP BEEP! BEEP BEEP! It sounds like an alarm going off, a DEVICE flashes on and off.
Bennet gets up and presses a button, shutting off the sound and the light. He twists a knob on the device and it makes a noise a like a radio trying to tune in to a signal. Finally it adjusts and lands on a continuous pitch. Bennet jots down the reading on to a piece of paper and scurries over to the computer.
Typing in commands he enters whatever he wrote down on the paper. Hitting enter, he rushes over to the seating apparatus. It looks like stripped down and modified dental CHAIR with curved appendages wrapped in wire.
COMPUTER
10 seconds to jump.
Bennet sets his watch to the timer reading 90 seconds, ready to be started with a push of a button.
COMPUTER
5 seconds to jump.
Bennet adjust himself in the chair and settles in, preparing for the "jump"
COMPUTER
4, 3, 2...
Vvvvffffttt. FLASH.
CUT TO:
INT. PARKING GARAGE - NIGHT
Across the under lit parking garage Bennet spies the FIGURE. Head to toe in black with a modified gas mask covering his face and head. Bennet sets the timer on his watch. The figure darts to the nearest door, Bennet in hot pursuit.
INT. STAIRWELL - NIGHT
Bennet peers down. The figure, already 2 flights down, looks up. Bennet hurries down after him, crashing down the stairwell. Flight after flight he goes, chasing down the figure. The figure reaches the bottom and slams into the door, locked! Bennet careens down the stairs.
The figure pulls a DEVICE out of his pocket and presses it to the lock on the door. WEEEUUUMMM, CLUNK the door unlocks and the figure rushes out as Bennet nears the bottom of the stairs. The door shuts as Bennet crashes into it. Locked.
BLAM! Bennet pounds the door with his fist and looks at his watch. 12 seconds. Bennet sits at the base of the stairs, breathing heavily.
