production design and finding a producer

Productive weekend after the week of snow and cabin fever.  Met with my Production Designer, Erin Turner, for a few hours on Saturday.  Went over the look of the film, the tone, lighting, mood and costume design.  She's excited and has a good grasp of what I want and also brought a lot of great ideas to the table, as I knew she would.  Discussed building some models and miniatures to shoot on green screen to comp in later as well as constructing some art and light installations to add to some scenes.  I'm extremely pleased with the direction we're heading and some of the new elements being discussed.

On Sunday I sat down with Jeremy Lamberton, filmmaker and director of the Biker Fox documentary that's been getting a lot of attention and screening across the country at different festivals.  He had some really good info and was excited about the project and how much work had been put in so far. He's going to step on board in a Producer type role, helping me organize my crew, equipment, locations and some scheduling, just keeping everything nice and neatly organized while I'm working on storyboards and production design.  I'm really excited he's on board, he's got a lot of experience with producing and organization and will be a big asset down the road when I start submitting to festivals.

Coming up: Production meeting is scheduled for Thursday to get everyone together in the same room to go over what we have so far and the plan moving forward.  Charles and I were discussing going location scouting this weekend but I think we're doing a last minute music video for my friends out of Dallas at Slackcircus, Ryan Haines, who is also my Post-Production Supervisor.  He'll be in town with his colleague Jay Allen, so it will be great to get together and work with them and hang out.  Hopefully Charles and I will get out on the road sometime soon, might do Sunday or take a day off early next week.
